Artists

After our curation lecture last week we realised we need to distinguish more clearly between graffiti art and anarchy. After choosing an outside space we thought a lot about street art and graffiti going well with the outside theme. We also started to look a lot at anarchy, and this type of uncontrolled artwork also suited being presented outside in our alley space. We initially looked at 4 2nd year students' art that we thought suited our space: Jeremy Peters, that worked a lot with graffiti, and another 3 that worked with anarchy/politics (Niall Singh, Matt Springer, Amy Wallis).

Graffiti can be very neat and clean-cut, and though it may suit being outside, is the complete opposite of anarchist's artwork, which is usually crude and uncontrolled. After looking at the artist's work again today we have decided to no longer feature Jeremy Peters' work in the exhibition, because his work is very neat and pattern-based, and our other 3 artists are all working with the same theme and compliment each other, so makes our theme stronger.

So our confirmed artists are: Niall Singh, Matt Springer and Amy Wallis.
